The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
